Monster Who Killed Wife Hours After Watching Child’s Assembly Play

By Susan Phillips-

A father-of-two  given a life sentence after pleading guilty to murdering his wife in the living room of their  Bristol home is every woman’s nightmare.

George Worgan, 35, from Avonmouth admitted  strangling wife Kelly Worgan to death with a ligature at their house in Napier Road on November 28, 2018. After killing the 33-year-old mum, Worgan left a note on the stairs asking that the children be stopped from going into the room where Kelly’s body lay dead, adding: “Daddy loves you.”‘We had to tell them mummy died’ – family of murdered mum say ‘biggest question is why’.

Hours before the murder took place, Kelly Worgan and her husband had watched one of their children in a school assembly, and then went shopping before going home where the murder took place.
The evil brute then headed to an unknown destination towards the north in the family car, packing only a handful of clothes, a large knife and Kelly’s phone and bank cards. It is not known where he was heading at the time.

Cops eventually caught up with him around 300 miles away on the M6 near Cumbria. He had sped off refusing to pull over when police tried stop him. This led to a police chase and a stinger being deployed which successfully punctured his tyre.

He could barely keep his eyes open, and was clearly in no fit state to drive. Worgan admitted to the officers he had taken a number of antidepressants and paracetamol pills.

BRIGHT LIGHT

Kelly was described as “the bright light during anyone’s darkest day, the life and soul of everything” following her death.

The 33-year-old adored mother will be sorely missed by all who knew her . Kelly’s  younger sister Hannah said through a written statement that Kelly had been like a second mother to her growing up.

‘He didn’t just take Kelly’s life, he took a part of me’. Hannah’s words were read out in court, detailing her struggle to continue her studies after being told what had happened to her sister.”Since Kelly’s death I have been in emotional turmoil and I questioned whether I could carry on with my studies.”But, my dad reminded me of how proud Kelly was that I was doing a degree and that made me keep going.

Also adding: “He didn’t just take Kelly’s life, he took a part of me with her.”

A statement written by Kelly’s parents, Glynis and Paul Holder, was read out in court. It said:

“We felt devastated and hurt it was really hard to take in everything we were being told.

“From that moment on it was as if we were in a nightmare, like it wasn’t real, it was as though we were waiting to be woken up but we never were the awful nightmare continues.

“Since we discovered the devastating news of our Kelly’s death our lives have changed drastically and it is hard to try and put this into words.

“The future for us all is very uncertain and this adds to the daily stress of trying to bring up two young children and grieve the loss of our lovely Kelly.

“I worry about the future and what it holds for us all but we need to be strong and support each other. Paul and I need to try and make happy memories for our grandchildren and we will continue to do our best by them, we owe that to our daughter.”

Judge Blair QC said:

“I feel it is important to state publicly that there was nothing on earth that could have alerted those who knew Kelly that such an awful crime was about to be committed, they have no reason to blame themselves.”
