Manchester Police Release CCTV Image Of Suspected Gay Rapist

By Tony O'Riley-

Police have released an image of a suspect they want to speak to after a man punched another man before attempting to rape him in Salford.

The victim, in his 20s, was walking on a path leading to Cottenham Lane to Mary Street, in Broughton, and before being approached by man. The man  was asked if he fancied some sexual activity, but was punched in the face after he declined.

The assailant then tried to rape him, but the victim escaped and report the incident to police. It is the first time that Manchester Police has reported the attack which took place on Sunday, October 21, at around 1am. Police have not released CCTV images before now because they usually try to exhaust other means of identifying suspects, and also have to go through trolls of images before identifying likely suspects of criminal offences.

However, after months of no results, Greater Manchester Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.Detective Constable David Prowse, from GMP’s Salford division, said: “We have been offering our support to the victim since this awful attack occurred and we are doing everything we can to find the man responsible.

“As part of our enquiries we have a picture of a man we need to speak to, as we think they could hold key information.

“I know the picture isn’t very clear but the man is quite distinctive and I think anyone who knows him will recognise him.

“I urge you to get in touch, or if this is you then please also make contact with us.
