Judge Reduces Murder Sentences Of Drug Boss And Pals

By Ashley Young-

The London Court of appeal has disappointingly cut the jail sentences of three ” callous” murderers who plotted the murder of Lynford Brewster.

Jake Whelan drove to the Midlands to pick Dwayne up 24-year-old Robert Lainsbury and 29-year-old Edgar as they plotted to track down Brewster. The gang was armed with knives, one of them a combat knife, as they sought out Brewster and stabbed him in the back and big legs.

The evil perpetrators then disposed of their mobile phones in an attempt to avoid being caught, but were eventually caught. Wheelan was jailed for 32 years, Lainsbury 40 years, and Edgar received 28 years.last December, 4 days before Christmas day.

UNREPENTANT

Unrepentant Lainsbury told the judge ” Merry Christmas to you too” after his jail sentence was given to him, and he also spat on a police officer as he was taken to the cells.

However, today at the London Court of Appeal , a judge slashed all their sentences by 2 years, except Edgar whose sentence was slashed by 3 years from 28 to 25. Wheelans sentence was reduced to 28 years, and Lainsbury’ s to 26.

The reduction is nothing great but will still be viewed as an insult to the families of the victims. The judge who jailed them had stated that the gang had shown no mercy or remorse, yet a lawyer managed to convince another judge to reduce the sentence.

SAD

The fact the judge agreed to slash the sentence is sad and unfortunate but does not make much difference when compared to the original sentence. That’s what makes the judge’ s eventual agreement odd because the new sentence should still be seen as too long.Murderers should not be granted any reduction whatsoever in life sentences.
