The parents of Madelaine Mcann- Getty and Kate Mcann- have faced fresh abuse by social media users on the 10th anniversary of their daughter’s disappearance.
The pair who claim to have been dining at the Tapas restaurant in the holiday resort of Praiz de luiz , have been called “negligent ” and ” evil” by cynical tweeter users who believe they are actually guilty of killing their daughter.
Some users have also called for the parents to have their other kids taken from them, the most offensive referring to them as “Mscam” who sedated their children and desposed of their child’s body, others claiming that British police involved in the case have only tried to protect the Mccans.
The allegations are painful , and will certainly tear into the heart of these highly professional parents .
SEDATION
They have claimed they never sedated their children and that hair samples of her other two children have been sampled by forensics to confirm this. An unfortunate and troubling reality the Mccans can’t escape is the fact that even by their own admission, they were extremely negligent to leave their children at home with the doors open, whilst they find with friends.
That was too negligent, and the reason many cynics have directed their suspicions towards them. The lair where made ” arguidos” (official suspects) by Portuguese police at the beginning of the investigation, but we’re eventually released from that status.

SUSPECT
Portuguese police strongly suspected the couple, a suspicion that rose when specially trained sniffer dogs brought in by the British police reacted to the scent of blood and death at the apartment and the rented car by the couple. However, other potential interpretations of the dog’s reaction poured cold water on the suspicion.
Hundreds of leads in the past decade have led to nothing, despite the worldwide publicity Madelaine’s disappearance received. British police were accused by the Portuguese authorities of complicating and obstructing the search for Madelaine and leaning heavily to protecting the interests of the doctor parents.
£11m spent by Scotland Yard so far has been called a ” waist”, by Portuguese cops who fell out with the McCann’s during the peak of the investigation.
THEORY
The most recent theory that Madelaine’s s disappearance may have been a burglary gone wrotlng has been rubbished by Portuguese police, who say there isn’t a shred of evidence to support that theory because nothing was stolen from the property.
Tonight, BBC’ s panorama revisits the mysterious disappearance of Madelaine McCann, 10 years on. Police are no nearer discovering what happened to the young girl and the online abuse directed at her parents are not helpful. Of course, we know that at best they were very, very negligent, and deserve a volley of criticism for that.
PETITION
Speculation that the parents are guilty of Madelaine ‘ s disappearance led to a petition signed by over 30,000 people that the pair take a lie detector test to prove their innocence .
They have not responded to that call, but they should. The view may well be taken by the Mccan’ s and their team that the request is ridiculous and an insult to them. This, in addition to the fact lie detector tests are not used in court may add to any reluctance to bow to the demands of their critics. After 10 years, the question of why Madelaine or her body has still not been found remains a big one with no definite answers.
