Half Of Scotland’s Dying Homeless Are Drug Related

Over 50% of Scotland’s dying homeless are drug related , new statistics have revealed.Glasgow and Aberdeen are recorded to have the worst rate of homelessness in the Uk, with Scotland’s homeless death rate more than double that of the rest of the Uk.

Homeless campaigners have called for the Scottish Government  to take urgent action in addressing the problem.Figures compiled by the National Records of Scotland, 195 people experiencing homelessness died in 2018 – that’s a 19% increase in the estimate of 164 in 2017.

The figures, which include those in temporary accommodation and rough sleepers, indicate that Scotland’s homeless death rate is at 35.9 per million is more than twice that of England, which sits at 16.8 per million. The figures showed that  79%, of those who died were men. More than half of all The mean age at death was 43 for females and 44 for males
