Luccas Abagge, 32, escaped from the Golden State Penitentiary in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso do Sul on Friday  morning.

The convict is the son of Beatriz Abagge, one of the women caught up in the killing of six-year-old Evandro Ramos Caetano, who was brutally murdered in what was ruled to be part of a witchcraft ritual in the late 90s.

Although no evidence has been found linking Lucas  to the Evandro casewas convicted of carrying out several homicides in the state of Paraná.

In January 2019, Luccas was sentenced to 54 years for murder, which was later reduced to 48 years. After the crime for dispute over drug sales point in Curitiba, his escape involved the theft of three vehicles.

He was caught using a false CNH (National Driver’s License) on Saturday night, as he entered Ponta Porã, a city 313 kilometers from Campo Great. Luccas is a fugitive from justice, sentenced to 80 years for murders in Paraná, also the son of Beatriz Cordeiro Abagge, investigated in the 90s for the death of a six-year-old boy in a black magic ritual.

Luccas was approached and during a check, his nervousness raised the suspicion of the military police. He used a false document, but was discovered during a thorough check. Luccas was taken to the police station and during interrogation, he said he was not a criminal and that he crossed the Ponta Porã border with Paraguay to pick up his wife at a mall. In fact, the prisoner did not sign any documents on behalf of Luccas Abagge. The wife said that she knew him as Evandro, unaware of criminal conduct.

The Civil Police urgently requested a vacancy in the prison, considering the high danger and history of cinematic escapes.

In January 2019, Luccas was sentenced to 54 years for murder, which was later reduced to 48 years. After the crime for dispute over drug sales point in Curitiba, his escape involved the theft of three vehicles.

In July 2019, a new conviction of  32 years was set in his case for killing a teenager in Curitiba. A second teenager was injured. In 2016, he escaped from the State Central Penitentiary, in the Metropolitan Region of the capital of Paraná.

He was caught trying to enter the southern state from Paraguay in June this year, presenting a fake driver’s licence to cops during a border check.

After realising it was a scam document, the police discovered he had an outstanding arrest warrant in Paraná and placed him under arrest.

More recently, Luccas was in the process of being transferred to a higher-security penitentiary but he managed to break free.

Using a makeshift rope tied together with pieces of material, he managed to scale two fences, climb a wall and go on the run.

Authorities have now launched an urgent manhunt to try and catch the killer. As for Luccas’ mother, she was one of many figures explored in the 2021 docu-series The Evandro Case: A Devilish Plot.

Evandro was kidnapped in 1992 and found dead in Paraná with his organs ripped out, throat slit, and eyes, ears, genitals, hands and feet cut off.

After disappearing on April 6 that year, the young boy’s remains were found by workers just five days later.
