Deontey Wilder Accuses Show Time Commentary Of Fury Bias

By Tim Parsons-

Deontey Wilder is insisting that the Showtime commentary were biased against him in his first contest with Tyson Fury which resulted in a draw in December 2018. The heavy puncher’s comments comes two days after he announced his fight with Luiz Ortiz fir November 23rd.

Wilder floored challenger Tyson Fury twice en route  to a controversial draw in a fight many thought the gypsy man won. Like many of Wilder’s fans, the American is adamant he deserved the win and says he was the victim of biased commentary from Showtime.

The WBC champion told Seconds Out: “I’m 41-0 and 40 KOs; forget the draw because that was no draw, I knocked him out.

“I beat Fury. The first four rounds is me easy, the fifth round is also.
“The only way people move that narrative like that [is] because of the commentary, the commentaries of Showtime, Paulie Malignaggi, all of them, especially Paulie.
“I won the first four rounds easily.”

“Look at when I fight other guys, even with the [Luis] Ortiz fight, there’s always something pushed through the challenger and not me.

“There’s always something good said about them and it’s always what I should be doing or need to be doing.
“It’s never ‘bigging’ me up, no one ever sees the greatness of what I’m doing until I just pop somebody in the middle of their sentence complimenting the other opponent.
“When you have it like that, you paint a narrative to the other people that’s on the outside looking in.

“It’s trying to make people say oh I’m still here, I won, I got the more energy.

“He [Fury] wasn’t doing nothing, he was missing a lot of punches.
“Forget the draw as that wasn’t no draw, I knocked him out, Jack Reese [the referee] showed favouritism, he had an emotional connection to Fury because of his story along with everybody else.
“Along with the commentary because they had an emotional connection.
