Brexit To Spark Intriguing New Era With Opportunties And Challenges

By Ben Kerrigan-

Brexit will spark the beginning of an intriguing new era because of the multiple possibilities that lie ahead. With the presence of the  several prophets of dooms about Brexit in relation to the likely future  economic state of the Uk, Britain’s prime minister, Boris Johnson has always  said that the Uk can be economically prosperous and trade successfully with the rest of the world post Brexit.

Johnson who  widely divided opinion in Britain, won a wide majority vote in the 2019 elections. He later  put Brexit through with a majority.  Nobody can say Johnson’s government hasn’t already taking steps to push for an economic boom, through the substantial amounts of government funding already being injected into the economy.

Only this month, the  prime minister held an international world summit for a number of African presidents in London. The world leaders were later hosted at Buckingham Palace for a dinner.

However, warnings form experts about the economy  cannot be ignored.  Many have said that leaving the Uk will weaken  Britain’s power  to influence economic matters in a bloc that constitutes the world’s second largest economy.  They also say its power to influence political decisions will be weakened.

Prime minister Boris Johnson is determined to prove that the reverse is true. Already, the British government is investing heavily in many sectors including education, NHS, and expects to pull off several trade deals in the world, including America and Africa.  Only this month, the  prime minister held an international world summit for a number of African presidents in London and guests of Buckingham Palace as an investment plan.

Johnson sees Brexit as a promise of hope. He said:”For many people this is an astonishing moment of hope, a moment they thought would never come,” he said. “And there are many of course who feel a sense of anxiety and loss.” In an open letter to the British public, French President Mr Macron said he was thinking of the millions of Britons “who still feel deeply attached to the European Union”.

“You are leaving the European Union but you are not leaving Europe,” he said. “Nor are you becoming detached from France or the friendship of its people.

“The Channel has never managed to separate our destinies; Brexit will not do so, either.”

Against all these, some have pointed to the huge inconveniences Brexit is expected to cause. British people from next year will need to queue up for visas to get to European countries they could once fly to without those concerns. Probrexitiers will see all that as the necessary price the Uk must pay if it wants the independence it craves.

Celebrations and anti-Brexit protests were held on Friday night to mark the UK’s departure. The UK officially left the European Union on Friday at 23:00 GMT after 47 years of membership, and more than three years after it voted to do so in a referendum. Brexit Parties took place in bars and clubs everywhere
