Boris Johnson may be planning a coup against Theresa Valentine’s Day speech aimed at bringing disputing Brexit members of the Conservative Party together.
His big plan has been scheduled for the one day in which lovers annually spend time together. Johnson’s plans are aimed at united Tory MP’s, but one source has called it a Valentine’s day massacre.
But with the timing set to clash with a Brexit speech from Theresa May, and reports that Mr Johnson is being lined up to replace her, one Government source warned it could instead lead to a “Valentine’s Day massacre”.
The news comes as Ms May and her senior ministers prepare for two crunch meetings to try and agree a joint-approach to negotiating a final Brexit deal.
Some political insiders believe the Valentine’s Day plan by Boris Johnson could result in the Foreign Secretary stealing the show so close to the scheduled plan for the Prime Minister to make her Brexit speech in Munich.

Some Tories believe Boris Johnson is trying to showcase his own leadership skills by scheduling a unifying speech which really should be the job of the prime minister. Number 10 has always been within the sights of Johnson, who committed an own goal when he was ganged up against at the last minute of his own contention for the prime minister’s post in 2016.
