Boris Johnson Vows To Pump Extra £10m Into Ofsted For Impromptu Inspections

By Sheila Mckenzie-

Boris Johnson has vowed for a no notice Ofsted inspections for the future if he is elected as prime minister in the next elections.

Johnson promised  to change the way inspections work in order give a “true reflection” of how well schools are performing. The plans promise to shake up the standard and practise of teaching and behaviour, as the prime minister aims to continue to raise the standards of schools in the Uk and also improve the behaviour of pupils.

Under the current system, schools are notified of Ofsted’s intention to visit at around noon on the working day before the start of the inspection. The Eye Of Media. Com raised this issue with Ofsted early this year, who told us schools are not always given plenty of notice before an inspection. Under new plans by the prime minister, schools will get no notice at all before inspections take place.

“The intention is to support teachers and what we want to see is increased funding for teachers, increased funding for teachers’ salaries, increased funding for schools,” Johnson said However, the general secretary of the NAHT echoed Ofsted words to us. He said:

“Inspection is already near no-notice, with the first inspection interviews taking place within a few hours of notification of inspection,” said Paul Whiteman, general secretary of the NAHT union.

“No-notice inspections will do more harm than good – they will result in more wasted time for inspectors, whilst arrangements are frantically put in place to meet their needs; they will be more disruptive and stressful to teachers and pupils; and will give zero additional insight in return.”

The prime  minister also promised to add an extra £10 million to Ofsted to fund the  changes which will see its extension increase from two to three days.
