The UK is to get new four-day bank holidays in 2027 and 2028.Thanks to the way the calendar falls, the festive period in 2027 will bring an extra two days off for many workers.
Christmas Day falls on Saturday, December 25, with Boxing Day landing on Sunday, December 26. Because both bank holidays fall at the weekend, substitute days will be introduced. The Government has confirmed those substitute bank holidays will take place on December 27 and December 28 respectively. That gives the UK a four-day weekend to round off 2027.
