The wife of Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner has denounced recent reporting about her husband’s alleged sexually explicit text messages with multiple women, calling the coverage “shameful” and accusing media outlets of spreading “gossip” rather than focusing on substantive political issues in a closely watched Senate race.
Amy Gertner, who is married to Platner, posted a video message over the weekend responding to renewed scrutiny of allegations that Platner exchanged explicit messages with several women while married.

In the informal recording, she did not directly address the specific content of the reports but criticised the attention surrounding them, saying she found it “really shameful” that journalists and commentators were amplifying private matters.
She added that “no marriage is perfect” and emphasised her commitment to her relationship, framing the controversy as a distraction from what she suggested should be the focus of the campaign.
