By Sammy Jones-

The 2026 concert series organised by Teenage Cancer Trust will be the best of what can be expected to feature in a remarkable roster of headline performances after Robert Smith, lead singer of The Cure, stepped into the role of guest curator.

The announcement reveals a week-long schedule at London’s Royal Albert Hall packed with iconic bands, up-and-coming acts, and a night of comedy all in support of young people with cancer. Tickets go on sale this December and hopes are high that the line-up will translate into a major fundraising success.

Smith is the first new curator in over two decades, succeeding longtime organiser Roger Daltrey. The 2026 shows run from 23 to 29 March, marking a new chapter for the charity’s signature event and generating excitement among fans and supporters alike. Cancer is responsible for the deaths of  more teenagers and young adults in the UK than any other disease. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to providing specialised nursing care and support for young people with cancer, funding specialist nurses, youth workers and 28 hospital units within the NHS.

The 2026 concert week begins on Monday 23 March with Elbow supported by MRCY, opening what promises to be a diverse and high-impact schedule. The following night is dedicated to laughter rather than lyrics, featuring a comedy line-up including names such as Stewart Lee, Jack Dee, Maisie Adam and other leading British stand-ups under the banner “Robert Smith’s Comedy Favourites”.

Mid-week performances include Scottish post-rock veterans Mogwai, backed by Craven Faults and singer-songwriter Annika Kilkenny on Wednesday 25 March. That night is followed by a landmark performance on Thursday 26 March: Manic Street Preachers headlining what will be the 150th show in the Teenage Cancer Trust history, with support from The Joy Formidable.

Elbow, Mogwai, Manic Street Preachers, My Bloody Valentine, Garbage and Wolf Alice will headline nights after being personally invited by The Cure’s frontman. In addition, Robert Smith’s Comedy Favourites will feature some of the best stand-ups around.

Band members have described the invitation from Smith as a genuine honour and promised special surprises for the night.

The final weekend sees a string of major acts: on Friday 27 March, My Bloody Valentine will perform with stripped-back support from Chvrches. Saturday 28 March brings Garbage together with Placebo delivering a rare acoustic performance. The series closes on Sunday 29 March with Wolf Alice and a set by Welsh-born singer-songwriter Nilüfer Yanya.

Robert Smith described the bill as “unforgettable” and “a run of shows to dream about,” praising the participating artists and expressing pride in curating an event for such a critical cause. The concerts will raise money for specialised nursing care and support for 13- to 24-year-olds with cancer, a cause to which Teenage Cancer Trust is committed.

Robert Smith commented, “Teenage Cancer Trust does absolutely amazing work, and l am very proud they asked me to be ‘Cureator’ of their March 2026 concerts at the RAH. I wanted to make it a truly unforgettable, unmissable week – a run of shows to dream about – and I am so grateful to all the artists who accepted my invitation to perform.

These will be very special events; every band, both headliners and special guests, and every comedian too, is either legendary or at the top of their game… indeed in most cases, they are both! It is going to be a fabulous 7 nights, and I can hardly wait to experience it all. See you there!”

Why This Edition Matters

This year marks a turning point for the charity’s flagship concert series. After more than two decades under Roger Daltrey’s stewardship, Robert Smith has taken over the curatorial reins a move that symbolises renewal while maintaining deep ties to the original spirit of the event. His history with the charity and long-standing support of its objectives lend credibility to the new direction.

The diversity of the line-up reflects an ambition to reach across musical tastes and generational divides. From post-rock to alternative rock, from shoegaze to indie pop, and comedy too, the programme is designed to appeal broadly and attract large audiences. That breadth could translate into vital funds and greater awareness for the charity’s mission. Music fans and supporters of cancer care may find evenings to suit their tastes while contributing to a cause that aims to support vulnerable young people.

For the artists involved, the invitation comes with weight. For bands like Manic Street Preachers, the gig represents their first appearance at a Teenage Cancer Trust event. For others such as My Bloody Valentine or Placebo, rare acoustic or stripped-back shows promise unique live experiences.

Several artists have publicly acknowledged the privilege of performing at the Royal Albert Hall under Smith’s curation.

In a wider context, the return of the series for 2026 underscores a commitment to sustaining cultural philanthropy even as live music faces ongoing challenges globally.

It reaffirms that benefit concerts remain a powerful way to fuse entertainment with social impact. The next few months will likely see demand for tickets surge, and if all goes well, the funds raised could make a significant difference to many young lives.

The line-up reveal has already sparked enthusiasm across social media and fan communities, with many expressing gratitude that such high-profile names are lending their talent to support those affected by cancer. As tickets go on sale in December, excitement continues to build. If the rest of the week lives up to this early promise, 2026 may mark one of the most successful years yet for the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts.
