Donald Trump Should Stay Clear Of Brexit Talks During UK Trip

By James Simons-

Donald Trump should stay clear of Brexit talks during his Uk visit, as this is a matter for the British government.
Brexit has posed many complications, but surely this isn’t a topic the British public want him getting involved with in the manner he is doing. May appeared to question Theresa May’s Brexit strategy, asking whether it is really what people who voted to leave the European Union want.

The U.S president said in a press conference at Nato that it appeared Britain was trying to get “at least partially” get back involved with Brussels.

However, after claiming victory over his defense spending demands, he said it was up to the UK what path to take for Brexit talks and was not for him as U.S president to dictate. That conclusion is true and questions the expression of his views on the topic at all given his track record for rash utterances.

Mr Trump also seemed to dismiss the prospect of protests in Britain over some of his policies.
He said: “I think that [the British] people like me a lot and agree with me on immigration. I think that’s why they voted for Brexit.”
Mr Trump added: “I am going to a pretty hot spot right now with a lot of resignations.”

When asked about his views on the UK’s plans for Brexit, Mr Trump said: “I would say Brexit is Brexit. The people voted to break it up so I would imagine that’s what they would do, but maybe they’re taking a different route – I don’t know if that is what they voted for.”
He added it seemed as if the UK was “getting at least partially involved back with the European Union”.”I’d like to see them be able to work it out so it could go quickly,” he said.

A heavy security operation has been put in place to host Trump’s visit, and is estimated to cost between £8m and £10m . The police force will be under “unquestionable pressure”, according to Police Federation chairman Simon Kempton, who said operations were likely to become “merely reactive” during the visit.

Police specialists from firearms, public order, traffic and special escort teams will all be involved in making sure the controversial trip goes smoothly.
Mr Trump is expected to avoid central London, where the bulk of protests will take place, instead visiting Blenheim Palace, Chequers, and Windsor Castle during his trip on Thursday and Friday.
