An unusual red weather warning for the snowy conditions in the UK has been announced today.
The warning highlights a threat to life arising from a particularly treacherous weather that has seen most of the country covered in snow amid bitterly cold conditions.
The Met Office said: “Roads will become blocked by deep snow, with many stranded vehicles and passengers. Long delays and cancellations on bus, rail and air travel are expected. Some communities could become cut off for several days. Long interruptions to power supplies and other services.”
The death of a seven-year-old girl after a car crashed into a house in Looe, Cornwall has touched many in the area. 36 year old Stephanie Hall told The Eye Of Media.Com : The weather has rocked this town with this painful story. My advice to everyone is to minimise how long you are out in this weather. Its just a mini storm we must ride.
Speculating about better weather in the weeks ahead, she said ”March usually has some good sunny days, so we should be optimistic. The sun will shine down the road after.”
In Leeds, a 75-year-old woman has been found dead in a snowy street. She was found partially hidden beneath a car in the Farsley area of the city. And a 46-year-old man has died in a road crash after a collision with a lorry in icy conditions on the A34 near Tot Hill services in Berkshire.
The beast from the east does not seem to be relenting in its attack, but like all weathers, it will calm down eventually.
