Uk Security Minister Calls On Russia To Explain Salisbury Novichok Attack

By Andrew Young-
Uk security minister, Ben Wallace, has called on Russia to explain how a small town like Salisbury in the Uk was hit by the deadly Novichok agent which has hospitalised two Brits
The pair are now seriously ill in hospital.  The government’s emergency Cobra committee on Thursday morning and is due to make a statement to the Commons afterwards.

Uk Security Minister, Ben Wallace,  believes Russia is responsible for the attack, but cannot say whether Russia targeted this particular attack or if the victim had a chance encounter with the same nerve agent that hospitalised the Skripals.

Wallace told BBC R Radio 4 :said: “Based on the evidence we had at the time of the Skripal attack, the knowledge they [Russia] had developed novichok, they had explored assassination programmes in the past, they had motive, form and stated policy, we would still assert to a very high assurance that the Russian state was behind the original attack.

The working assumption is that these  are victims of the previous attack or something else, not that they were targeted. That could change, he said. This was a brazen and reckless attack at the heart of a very peaceful part of the UK. That is the part of the anger I feel at the Russian State. They chose a very, very toxic, highly dangerous weapon. Novichok is the smallest and can injure thousands of people.

Counter-terrorism police have been brought in to investigate how the victims were exposed to the super lethal nerve agent.

One  senior Russian lawmaker called on the U.K. to ask Russian experts to take part in the latest investigation. Russia has denied any knowledge of the incident and have always accused Britain of accusing them without evidence. Britain’s position would appear to be that whether or not they have concrete evidence, they have strong and compelling enough circumstantial evidence to show that Russia was responsible for the first Novichok attack against Sergei and Yulia Skripal. The current new case is investigation.

The Russian embassy in the Netherlands have retaliated against the allegation by calling Britain dumb.  A tweet from the Embassy said that Britain was “dumb” if it thinks Moscow would stage a nerve agent attack during the World Cup soccer tournament, which it is hosting currently. Another Russian lawmaker Sergei Zheleznyak said the latest incident looked like an attempt to spoil England soccer fans’ positive perception of the tournament, Reuters reported.
