Turkey Blocks Access to WikiLeaks

Turkey has blocked access to Wikileaks, following the organisation’s release of 300,000 incriminating  emails sent by members of the Apk ruling party.

The whistleblowing site released the emails late last night, but Turkey’s Internet watchdog has categorically blocked access to the site, Reuters reported.

Turkey’s Internet watchdog called the move an administrative measure, a term commonly used when steps of this nature are taken.

“After technical analysis and legal considerations, administrative measures has been taken for this website”, a statement on Turkey’s telecommunications read.

Wikileaks yesterday confirmed the verification of their materials and  sources, stressing that they were not connected in any way to elements behind the attempted coup, a rival political party or group.

Wikileaks proceeded  to highlight alternative ways for their readers to access the damning emails, though we can expect the Turkish government to find alternative ways to stop it

Turkey has in past times blocked access to Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites, though such moves are a direct attack on a free press, and further confirms the bullish state of the government.

The details of the several thousands of emails must be really incriminating, and what the Turkish government actually need to do is overhaul those aspects of its system that are not above board.
