Trumps Far Rights Retweets Will Definitely Delay UK Visit

By Lucy Caulkett-

President Trump’s UK visit will definitely be delayed after a series of tweets that has caused uproar.

Comments by one Mp that the visit ”will be kicked into the grass as slong as it can get” is as frank as it can be put. The controversies surrounding President Trump’s tweets are too deep, and an apology or admission of wrong by the U.S president would go a long way to dampening the heated climate created by the undesirable retweets.

Mr Trump publicly reacted to a chastisement by Theresa May after Downing Street said the President was “wrong” to have shared the content with his 43.6 million followers on Twitter.

Ms Rudd comments to MPs that the Prime Minister would never back away from challenging the President over his behaviour is a welcome confirmation of the strength of the British prime minister to be a strong leader who leads by example and remains strong on principle. Trump’s visit to the Uk cannot be cancelled otherwise the relationship between the UK and The U.S might as well go out of the window. However, there is no way the U.S president can visit with all the tension going on. Even before the latest controversy, Trump’s visit to the Uk had been frowned upon, and he himself had initially postponed it to avoid the wide demonstrations to be expected. Those demonstrations will still occur whenever Trump’s visit is lanned, but at least it gives enough time for Trump to try to make amends and improve his image abroad.

President Trump’s presidency has been mired in controversy ever since his inauguration. The investigation into his team’s relationship with Russia and the alleged meddling in the 2016 U.S elections has kept his hands full with domestic issues. His firing of the former FBI chief, James Comey, intensified the investigation, but the President still stands innocent of the allegations until proven otherwise.

INVITATION

Rudd told the House of Commons the invitation for the U.S president to visit the U.K has been extended and accepted, but that arrangements were yet to take place. Those arrangements will now surely be scaled back, as there is no way President Trump will be able to continue with the official visit until the dust has settled. A situation in which the President is seen to be verbally attacking the UK prime minister will be considered to be very distasteful, and could potentially weaken the relationship between Britian and the U.S. However, it cannot eliminate the historical and current political alliance between the two countries.

Rudd confirmed that “The Prime Minister will always have regular calls with the President and she has been explicit in criticising this tweet,” the Home Secretary said. “I know that she will always make sure that she calls it out where she sees it and that is what she has done here.” Those are positive and encouraging words to hear, our prime minister in Britain has strength of character and high principles. When President Trump eventually visits the Uk is a matter for Theresa May and Mp’s to determine.
