Many students this summer will be assembling for creative music activities at The Music Lounge, a new contemporary music centre based at Newbury’s Waterside Centre, providing an exciting time to students who may otherwise spend their  summer time aimlessly. The added benefits of discounts to music streaming services means that as well engaging regularly in musical activities at music venues or music schools, many students will be able to stream music at a discounted price from many streaming services.

News of the increased popularity of streaming music through various outlets including internet radio broadens the opportunity for students to enjoy a wide range of music during the holiday breaks.

Spotify has an incredible bundle for students, packing in Spotify Premium, Hulu (with ads), and Showtime’s streaming service all for $5 a month. Amazon also doesn’t require you to reverify student status on a routine schedule, and you’ll easily be able to enjoy Prime Student for the duration of your undergraduate life and maybe beyond.

Music is beneficial to the mood and the brain, and is known for boosting the memory and improving individual functionality and  is known to enhance the process of learning, improving integrated sensory, attention, cognitive, emotional and motor capacities.

Musical experience strengthens many of the same aspects of brain function that are impaired in individuals with language and learning difficulties

Research shows that schools with music programs have a higher performance  compared to schools without music education, and also have a higher attendance rate. Students who enjoy music in school and appreciate legendary composers of old and  contemporary artists have an advantage in performing well in school if they commit their minds to their academics.

Adults who received formal music instruction as children  generally have a more robust brainstem responses to sound than peers who never participate in music lessons and that the magnitude of the response correlates with how recently training ceased.
