A senior police officer is being investigated for potential gross misconduct, a watchdog has confirmed.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) has launched an investigation concerning an officer with Suffolk Police.
The officer is alleged to have deliberately misled or provided false information during a vetting interview, the IOPC said.
“We can confirm, as part of our ongoing investigation into a senior Suffolk Constabulary officer,” a spokesperson for the IOPC said.
“We have served a notice informing them they are being investigated for potential gross misconduct.
“The serving of a conduct notice does not necessarily mean disciplinary proceedings will follow.
“At the end of our investigation, we will decide whether any individuals should face disciplinary proceedings.”
Last week it was revealed that over 700 police officers had been dismissed in the past one year for dishonesty.
