Presley Gerber, (pictured) the son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, has died at the age of 27, according to his family.
Crawford’s representative confirmed Gerber’s death to Fox News Digital, releasing a statement on behalf of the family that read: “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
According to online records from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner, Gerber died Sunday at a rehabilitation facility. An autopsy has not yet been completed, according to TMZ, and further details surrounding his death have not been released.
Gerber was the only son of Crawford and Rande Gerber and the older brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber, 24. He had spoken openly in recent years about his struggles with mental health and addiction, using social media and interviews to discuss his experiences with depression, panic attacks, recovery and substance use.
In a Vogue cover story published in August 2026, Kaia Gerber discussed her brother’s long struggle with mental health and drug use. Vogue described Presley’s experience as a “decade-long struggle with drug addiction.”
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia told the magazine. She explained that she came to see herself as “the easy one” and was reluctant to ask for help because she felt that her family was already dealing with so much.
Kaia also reflected on her brother’s decision to speak publicly about his difficulties. She said her parents had maintained a very private family life for much of their children’s upbringing, but Presley had chosen to be open about his struggles.
“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything—and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” she told Vogue. “There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
Gerber had also spoken publicly about his recovery. In December 2025, he shared an Instagram video, which he later deleted, in which he discussed taking medications including Xanax, Valium and buprenorphine while speaking about panic attacks and his efforts to recover, according to People magazine.
Gerber said at the time that he had experienced “a lot of loss in many different forms recently,” adding that he hoped his willingness to discuss his experiences would help others feel less alone and encourage people struggling with similar issues to seek support.
He had previously discussed his mental health on the Studio 22 podcast in February 2023.
“Having struggled with mental health, depression and some other things that come along with that,” Gerber said, “I think that whether I help one person or a hundred people get out of that place that I was in at one point in my life, that’s all I need to do.”
Gerber’s struggles were accompanied by a high-profile career in fashion. He signed with IMG Models at the age of 15 and made his runway debut at Moschino’s Los Angeles show in 2016.
He subsequently appeared in shows for major fashion houses including Dolce & Gabbana and Tommy Hilfiger and featured in campaigns for brands including Calvin Klein and Celine. In 2019, Gerber was charged with driving under the influence.
Despite being born into one of the most recognizable families in the fashion and entertainment industries, Gerber increasingly used his public platform to discuss personal difficulties that are often kept private. His openness about mental health and addiction became a significant part of his public story in the years before his death.
Gerber’s death comes as his family asks for privacy. No further details about the circumstances surrounding his death have been publicly disclosed, and the medical examiner’s investigation remains ongoing.
