President Trump has blasted Twitter for removing “many people” from his followers list.
The U.S president who is an avid frequenter of the social media platform accused Twitter of a bias against him . “Twitter has removed many people from my account and, more importantly, they have seemingly done something that makes it much harder to join – they have stifled growth to a point where it is obvious to all,” tweeted the president.
President Trump’s account has lost an estimated 300,000 followers. The drop follows Twitters recent announcement that it is working to make the platform healthier , removing spammers and fake twitter accounts designed to sow discord or other forms of malpractice. The social media giant yesterday said it had lost many followers, whilst soaring in profits that suggests it is doing something right.
Trump being the president may have many malicious followers on his twitter feed, but the social media giant may have been obliged to give an account of the how the clean up they have made may have affected Trump’s account.
“Twitter has removed many people from my account and, more importantly, they have seemingly done something that makes it much harder to join – they have stifled growth to a point where it is obvious to all. A few weeks ago it was a Rocket Ship, now it is a Blimp! Total Bias?” Mr Trump tweeted
“Many prominent accounts have seen follower counts drop, but the result is higher confidence that the followers they have are real, engaged people,” Twitter spokesman Brandon Borrman said on Friday.
Last week Twitter disclosed it had removed some 10 million tweets that it thought were the work of Russian and Iranian government-backed influence operations.
