A police officer who worked across Newham and Waltham Forest has been sacked after inappropriately touching a female colleague.
PC Rafiqur Rahman was dismissed after a misconduct hearing which ended yesterday.
A Met Police spokesperson said he was found to have inappropriately touched a female colleague whilst on duty and sent the same colleague an inappropriate message.
An investigation by the Directorate of Professional Standards was launched in June 2022 after the female officer reported being been inappropriately touched by PC Rahman in February 2021 whilst on shift.
PC Rahman had also sent her an inappropriate message in response to her query about another matter.
He was placed on restricted duties whilst the investigation was ongoing.
A panel found the allegations made against him proven at the level of gross misconduct.
Ch Supt Simon Crick, responsible for policing in Newham and Waltham Forest, said: “All of my officers are expected to behave with the utmost integrity, both towards the public and towards their colleagues.
“I’m sickened that my officer was assaulted in this way and we are taking steps to ensure her continued welfare.
“Rahman has no place in the Met or policing and has now been rightly dismissed.”
Rahman will be added to the Barred List held by the College of Policing, which prevents employment into police forces.
