Oxford Unions Shameful Invite Of Stormy Daniels

By Gavin Mackintosh-

The Oxford Union invited Stormy Daniels to give a talk last Thursday, the eve before another controversial invitation they made to Steven Bannon.

Daniels is known for he claimed affair with Donald Trump in 2006 in which she received $130,000 hush money paid to keep quiet before the election. She  addressed students in the packed chamber at 5pm.

The title of her talk her talk, Sex, Guns & Other Fluff: How Porn Can Set You Free the American said  porn stars must not be stigmatized for their work.

She said the porn industry is good for women because ‘it is the only profession I can think of where the women earn double that of the men’She insisted her claims are true, adding: ‘It’s a common misconception that I’m backed or a puppet by the Democratic Party or another political affiliation, but I am not, I am here all by myself’.

The Oxford Union messed up in their choice of invitation, making themselves look very cheap by inviting a woman like Daniels to address a bunch of intellectuals from Oxford University about porn.  Daniels is a professional prostitute who ironically struck lucky by meeting President Trump. Lucky in the sense that her alleged affair has raised her financial worth significantly. An unfortunate and revealing outcome of the several revelations she made about the U.S President is the denigration of society’s values.

Exposing Trump’s affair may have made her plenty of bucks, but it also exposed the lack of standards in many organisations world wide. Take the Oxford Union for example, it consists of highly intellectual individuals. Intellectuals who were happy enough to have a porn star brainwash them about the values of porn and why porn should not be looked down upon or stigmatized. Her message that porn can set us free is the most ridiculous statement presented to students for a long time.

When the assignment for this article was initially presented to a few of the female writers of this publication, the response was disappointing. One woman not to be named said ” ok, she is not one who should be promoted and applauded, but at least she is a woman trying to better herself”. Better herself? Giving talks about porn setting you free is not bettering oneself, it is exposing a backward mindset. Another bright and ambitious female writer for the eye of media.com pointed out that former big brother television hostess, Davina Mccall was once a porn star but became a television star.

The difference here is Mccall did not become famous by attempting to promote porn. She joined the entertainment industry in television, making a more respectable improvement in her career. The eye of media.com’s think tank team are united in the conclusion that Daniels is being celebrated in a way that does not fit her accomplishments in life. Channel 5 offered her £750,000 to appear on celebrity big brother, but challenged the broadcaster to explain why they thought Daniels fitted to be a celebrity, they were unable to respond.

Their bosses continue to be probed about the goal and idea that was behind her invitation to show and whether this was well thought out. In the same way, the Oxford Union are left looking like a group who do not think deeply enough in every case before choosing guests.

Oxford Union was contacted for comment, but did not respond.
