Criminal Charges After Cops Seize BB Gun And Large Drugs From Reckless Driver

In a recent operation conducted by Nottinghamshire Police, two suspects have been charged and remanded following the seizure of substantial quantities of drugs and a BB gun.

The incident unfolded during a routine patrol in the Radford area on Tuesday night, raising concerns about public safety and the prevalence of illicit activities within the community.

Response officers, vigilant while patrolling Radford, encountered a Toyota Yaris with a suspected defective headlight at approximately 9:45 pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

The officers’ suspicions were further aroused when the vehicle, allegedly driven recklessly, attempted to evade them before ultimately coming to a halt down a dead-end street.

When the drivers refused to respond to their blue lights, the officers followed the Toyota Yaris which  before it eventually came to a stop minutes later after going down a dead end.

The passenger ran off but was detained following a brief foot chase. When officers searched his backpack they found a large amount of cannabis – around 100 deal bags – as well as a BB gun.

Upon apprehending the suspects, law enforcement officers discovered significant amounts of cannabis and a BB gun within the vehicle.

The swift and decisive action of the police highlights their commitment to tackling criminal activity and ensuring the safety of the local populace.

The individuals arrested in connection with the incident have been identified as Imran Munir, aged 46, of Norton Street, Radford, and 19-year-old Jody Small, residing on Radford Road, Basford.

Both suspects appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, April 18, 2024, to face a series of charges related to the incident.

Imran Munir stands accused of dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen for analysis, while Jody Small faces charges of possession with intent to supply cannabis, acquiring/using/possessing criminal property, and possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.

Following their appearance in court, both Munir and Small have been remanded in custody pending further legal proceedings.

They are scheduled to appear before Nottingham Crown Court on May 16, 2024, where their cases will be further addressed.
