Norfolk Police Highly Acclaimed In World Class Policing Awards

Norfolk Police have been highly acclaimed in four international awards tonight in the World Class Policing awards.

In a night of  a celebration of excellence in policing across the UK , and recognises the best in all aspects of 21st century policing. This year, Norfolk police are among  a total of 54 nominations recognised in nine categories.

Their inclusion is a testament to their supreme and top quality policing skills that deem them worthy of the noteworthy accomplishment for their commitment and great value to the British public. acknowledge the best in all aspects of 21st century policing.

Norfolk’s nominations include Tom Farrell of Partner organisations at the Home Office. DC Tom Farrell  is lauded for being an Intelligence Development Officer from the Cyber, Intelligence & Serious Crime Directorate has been nominated in the new system/technology category. Since 2014,  The Intelligence Officer has been responsible for proactive targeting of individuals  suspected of downloading and sharing indecent images and videos of children online.

A Norfolk police officer, whose relative brought the awards to the attention of The Eye Of Media.Com said: ”Tom is an officer of exemplary policing skills, highly deserving of the recognition for which he has been nominated”.

Only a fortnight ago, Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies won a national well being award at a ceremony in London last month, where representatives from the constabularies’ joint Workplace Health, Safety and Well being team picked up the Royal Society for Public Health’s Workplace Health and Well being Award”.

LEADERSHIP AND EXPERTISE

Under Tom’s leadership  and expertise, his team has used their  to intelligence arrest of 320 individuals across Norfolk and Suffolk. In excess  of 100 children have been safeguarded and 15 children protected as a consequence of his proficiency.

Tom has formed a close relationship with the Child Rescue Coalition, a charity which develops technology free of charge to law enforcement, and he has become an accredited trainer providing inputs to UK police and officers from other countries. Norfolk Police have credited his digital investigative skills in conjunction with the trial technology have led to some significant outcomes in areas such as counter terrorism, child sexual exploitation, fraud and serious crime.

Chief Constable Simon Bailey said: “It’s extremely pleasing to see such incredible team work and projects shortlisted on a global stage. Our Operation Moonshot teams have had unwavering success, making almost 1,500 arrest and as many seizures, in 833 days of duty.

“The exploitation of vulnerable young people is one of the biggest challenges facing modern day policing and the MACE team plays an essential cross-partnership role in reducing the dangers that children are exposed to.”

OPERATION MOONSHOOT– Disrupting Criminals and Protecting Communities Norfolk Constabulary

Operation Moonshot is geared towards the disruption of criminals and  the protection of communities around Norfolk’s road networks, using intelligence creatively, and a multi-faceted approach  to deal with offenders pro-actively. The three teams, covering Norwich, East and West have collectively made 1,432 arrests and 1,351 seizures. Thousands of pounds worth of stolen property has also been recovered.

NORFOLK  MULTI AGENCY CHILD PROTECTION BOARD

The Multi-Agency Child Exploitation Program Board (MACE) is co-chaired by Norfolk Constabulary & Norfolk Children’s Services, and has drawn together partners , including the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, to deliver an innovative program of initiatives designed to tackle child exploitation. The board is funded by the Home Office’s Early Intervention Youth Fund to lead the county’s response to child criminal exploitation through a range of projects.
