Netflix Announces Desperate Search For Prince Harry Look Alike For Crown Series

By Charlotte Webster-

Netflix has announced its search for a young actor to play Prince Harry in The Crown’s next series.

With just weeks to go before shooting for the final segment begins, the chase to find an actor with the right look to play the Duke of Sussex is on.

The casting call comes after The Crown finally found actors to play a young Prince William and Kate Middleton during the early stages of their relationship. But the position for Harry remains vacant, with directors seemingly struggling to find the right man for the job.

Applicants need only resemble the Duke of Sussex when he was aged between 16 and 20. Anyone who thinks they fit the bill can apply simply by emailing over a 30-second audition tape by the deadline of 6pm on Friday, October 14.

It asks for an inclusion of a video of applicants talking about something they love doing. The video should be no longer than 30 seconds and will need to show a close-up head and shoulders shot of you in good natural lighting. Start the video by saying your full name, age and height.

The casting was shared on Facebook by British Youth Music Theatre – BYMT which details exactly what Netflix is looking for.
Netflix’s casting director for The Crown, Robert Sterne, is looking for someone who has “a strong physical resemblance” to Prince Harry aged 16-20 years old.

Those under the age of 18, you will need to get a parent or guardian for permission to apply and add their contact details to your email submission.

The advert does not include any details of the script the selected actor will be acting out, not does it reveal whether the actor’s feelings or emotions about the scripted role will inform their judgement of whether he will be chosen for the role.

In September of 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a landmark, multi-year deal with Netflix to produce content with the media production arm of Archewell, Archewell Productions. The original deal noted that they would create an array of content, including documentaries, docu-series, movies, scripted shows, and children’s content.

The drama surrounding their well-documented feud with the royal family is expected to make it a hit, but not necessarily a positive one.

Much will depend on the content and how it is generally perceived by the British public.

The request does not state the theme of the play or whether prospective actors would be.

In the meantime, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to be desperate to edit their Netflix show and memoir following the Queen’s death, sources say.

It will be important for the series to be as fair as possible in its portrayals and not worsen an already bad problem.

However, controversy is what sells, and money is likely to be uppermost in the minds of directors.
