MANCHESTER CITY SIGN AUSSIE PLAYER FOR £144

Manchester City have signed Anthony Caceres from Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners for £144,000, according to reports.

Manchester City have signed an Australian from Australian A league side, central coast Mariners for a large fee which is being kept secret for now.

The 23 year old defender has only been with the team for 3 years, and not been a prolific goal scorer in the 62 appearances he has made. Despite only 3 of his goals having made the net in over 60 games, the Central Coast Mariner player has long been tipped for big things in the Australian A league, but not many expected a move this grand to be round the corner.

The potentially calculated move will raise City’s profile in Australia, especially in light of the City football’s group take over of Melbourne City only a couple of years ago, and the move Luke Brattan made from Brisbane Roar to Manchester last October.

Considered one of the prize assets in his current teams, the youngster has no international caps on his resume, and is unlikely to stand out among the Manchester City players if he were allowed to play on the big platforms immediately. Carceres has really began to deliver on his talents in the last 12-15 months, but greater improvements still lie ahead.

Mariners head coach Tony Walmsley said: “When I brought Caceres to the Mariners his potential was obvious. The move demonstrates how far he has progressed.
“We need to celebrate when players are sold to bigger clubs.”
The Australian becomes City’s first signing of the January transfer window.
