A lucky pensioner incredibly scooped a life-changing $300,000 lottery prize while on her way home from collecting a $100,000 win. The anonymous 70-year-old woman was ecstatic when she went to claim her prize $100,000 (£88,000) prize in Newark, Delaware, US, on October 20.
The Delaware Lottery Games said the woman “was thrilled to discover she was a $100,000 winner after scratching two $100K ULTIMATE CASH Instant Game ticket[s] she purchased from Speedy Gas in Newark.”
She went to the lottery headquarters about a week after her big win to claim her top prize, only to discover on her way home to discover she had won another $300,000 from three fresh tickets she purchased to celebrate her big lottery win. The experience was mind blowing and provides an example of the amazing powers of good fortune for some individuals.
The overjoyed pensioner reportedly told lottery officials that “it was her biggest win since she began playing the Delaware Lottery seven years ago.”
Her friend came along to help collect her winnings as she described the moment she heard about winning the two top prizes as “absolute insanity”. The Delaware State Lottery said: “The woman’s lucky day wasn’t over just yet. On her way home, she decided to celebrate by purchasing three SERIOUS MONEY tickets from N. Dover Tiger Mart in Dover. Amazingly, one of the tickets turned out to be a $300,000 top prize winner.”
The woman said: “My best friend was the first person I told about winning the $100,000 top prize, and she came with me to claim it.”
She added: “When I scratched the $300,000 winning SERIOUS MONEY ticket later in the day, we just sat there in disbelief. It was absolute insanity.

The Delaware State Lottery said: “The pair soon returned to Lottery Headquarters to claim the woman’s $300,000 top prize, making her total winnings for the day $400,000, and October 20, 2022, a day she won’t soon forget.”
Helene Keeley, Acting Director of the Delaware Lottery, congratulated the pensioner on her lucky and extremely unique win.
