Leytonstone Station Stabbing Suspected To Be Unprovoked

By Eric King-

A man has been stabbed in Leytonstone station, in a suspected unprovoked attack.

A witness said ” he was stabbed by two lads that ran off”. A group of three ales and one female are said to have fled the scene after the stabbing. Young east londoners who were aware of the stabbing, quickly took to twitter to spread the news of the stabbing.

The stabbing, which occured on Thursday evening, occurred at the height of rush hour, shortly after 6.30 pm, the eye of media.com heard from locals. London youths are very familiar with violence, and some even find it exciting. One person tweeted: he was stabbed in the lower back by two lads who ran off.

Apparently it was unprovoked. Another said ”can’t confirm, but I think someone has just been stabbed in Leytonstone station. Lots of blood, police has just arrived”.

MOTIVE

The male victim in his thirties was stabbed in his bottocks, but police have not established the motive for the stabbing.  His injuries are none life threatning, and the man has been talking to police about what happened.

The idea of unprovoked knife attacks is scary; only with terrorist attacks is something like this expected. In the course of speaking with many people in London when covering knife or gun crimes, we have heard from a few speople that random attacks are very rare.

The view is that even when an attack appears to be random, that is usually because the police and the public do not know the background. Incidences of stabbings without an exchange of words can happen when the perpetrator wants to attack without notice, and not give his victim a chance of defence. In extreme scenarios, some perpetrators attack their victims on behalf of somebody else who they feel have been maltreated on some previous occassion.

STUPID

Stabbings in or near a London underground station are stupid because CCTV cameras are often within sight to capture the image of the assailant. This should ordinarly be enough to serve as a deterrent, but the various issues that cause bitterness and spite in London are several. Getting caught for a violent offence is a minor consideration for those vengeful hearts that feel cheated over drug deals or fraudulent manoeveres involving bank accounts.

London is such a vibrant and diverse city filled with individuals from complex backgrounds and different tendencies.  25 year old Marcus Renaulds told the eye of media.com

” London is a rich city with very determined and ambitious individuals. Young people see people driving nice cars, wearing expensive clothes, everyone wants that. They find out what they do to live this nice life, and when they hear it is drugs or fraud, they get influenced. We are living in unpredictable times when things are kinda hard”

”We are in Brexit, people want to live comfortably by any means necessary, so  a clash will always happen now and again. When you hear of someone stabbing another by a train station, you better know they have done something”.

That may be true, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that victims of knife or gun crime have some involvement in dodgy dealings. Intense strife can occur over sexual relationships or a misunderstanding over anything.
