Landlord Becomes Third Lottery Winner In Lincolshire

By James Simons-

A landlord has strangely become the third person at a pub in Lincolnshire to win £1m on the National Lottery.

43 year old Ian Brooke who runs the Mallard in Scunthorpe won big the EuroMillions millionaire maker raffle on 28 July.
In 2015, David and Kathleen Long won a EuroMillions prize of £1m on two separate occasions, after their initial win in 2013.
Mr Brooke said he planned to share his winnings with two of his friends. Cool Mr.Brooks broke the news to his friends who were drinking at a pub. He told reporters:

“After discovering I had won £1m, I immediately went down to the pub where my friends were drinking and took them into a back room,” said Mr Brooke.
“We always had a gentleman’s agreement if one of us won we would share the prize.”
The chances of winning the Millionaire Maker raffle on a Friday are estimated at one in 2,950,000, according to Camelot. This makes it a lot more likely for people to win a big prize in the millionaire’s raffle than on the national lottery, where the chances are at least one in 14 million. Nevertheless, winning on the millionaire raffle is still more of a rarity than a common occurrence. When three people in the same pub win the national lottery, it furthers the view that some areas or groups of people are luckier than others. Essex, for instance, has been considered one of the most lucky counties in the UK, producing more lottery millionaires than any other county since the lottery began in 1995. Individual areas in Essex have also produced more lottery winners than in other areas, but there is no suggestion or evidence that these areas have deliberately en placed in a winning position.

The The odds of winning the lottery more than once are estimated at one in over 200 billion, but America leads the way when it comes to producing multiple winners of lottery jackpot prizes. Ilford, Romford, Cleveland, and Warrington top the list of luckiest areas in the country to win the lottery. Over £87m in lottery prizes has been paid out in Ilford alone since 1994 when the national lottery was launched. The North East, like Newcastle and Sunderland, are also lucky areas that produce big winners.

HOLIDAY

Mr Brooke, who has worked behind the bar on Burringham Road for more than 18 years, plans to spend his Millionaire Maker raffle winnings on a holiday home in Benidorm, Spain. He also plans to buy a new car for each of his four children. Most people who play the lottery several times a week have struggled to win life changing sums, tiny percentage of those who play the lottery win up to £1m. It is quite extraordinary when someone wins it twice, but when three people from the same vicinity win a big lottery prize, it begs the question whether there could be a lucky bird flying across various counties and favouring some of them at the expense of others.

Winning a big prize on the lottery does not guarantee happiness, and several examples of lottery winners whose lives were ruined because of the win have been documented on public record. Stories of lottery doom has not put people off trying to win the lottery. It is a matter of fact and random chance that a big lottery win could also be the best experience for many of its winners, completely transforming their lives for the better.
