Labour Mps Resign Over Incompetent Corbyn And Brexit

By Lucy Caulkett-

Seven Members of Parliament have tendered their resignation from the Labour party, accusing the party of being racist,  and betraying the its members feelings over several issues.

The wave of walk outs was sparked over Labour’s handling of  frustrating Brexit negotiations, and the party’s handling of anti-semitism . The group say Jeremy Corbyn is not fit to become Prime Minister. Other defectors include Chuka Umunna, Chris Leslie, Angela Smith, Gavin Shuker and Mike Gapes, all of whom have decided to sit in the House of Commons as independent group of MPs.  The decision is a blow to the Labour party leader, Jeremy Corbyn, with just 3 9 days to go.

“It is not simply that our values are no longer welcome in the Labour Party; the values we hold mean that, in all conscience, we can have no confidence in the party’s collective leadership, competence or culture,” the group said in a statement. The group have also condemned the party leadership of failure to “addressing the challenge of Brexit” and to provide a “coherent alternative to the Conservative’s approach.”

Labour leader: Jeremy Corbyn

Members of the disgruntled group have been calling for a second referendum, something Corbyn himself is not to keen on, being essentially a Euroskeptic who favours Brexit, but has provided no answers to the crisis suppressing parliament to which no solution has been forthcoming.

The fall out is similar to the  tension and disunity that once rocked the Conservative party over how to resolve the problem of Brexit.  Those in favour of a second vote want to see the nightmare of Brexit talks reversed, but are stuck with the fact Tory mps are many others will consider a second vote to be tantamount to undermining the democratic process of the first vote.  Many who voted in the first referendum did not understand the consequences of their vote. There is nothing to say they will understand it this time, and the chances of the same outcome is a problem for those who insist the country should just press ahead with what  where we are.
