John Fury Pushing For December Joshua Clash Vowing Tyson Will Knock Out Wilder In Four Rounds

By Tim Parsons-

Fury’s dad, John Fury is pushing for a clash between his son and Anthony Joshua, as he vowed that his son will knock out Deontey Wilder when the pair meet in October. John Fury has made no secret of his intense dislike for Deontey Wilder , after the American accused Fury’s team of cheating when the brit took his WBC title in February 2020.

The 54 year old who comes from a lineage of bare knuckle fighters and himself had 13 professional fights before he retired, has long been an outspoken supporter of his unbeaten son. In the build up to the second fight between Tyson Fury and Deontey Wilder, John had a heated dispute with former WBA champion, David Haye, after the latter expressed doubts in Fury’s chances of beating Wilder in that fight. Fury, as is well known, was successful in that fight, stopping Wilder in seven brutal rounds.

Wilder has made a number of allegations claiming he was the victim of foul play, when he lost his last fight against the gypsy king. Amongst them were claims that his water was spiked leading to him sacking his former trainer. Wilder also insisted that Fury’s gloves were tampered with.

John, who has some influence in his son’s career, who  has in the last few months  described Wilder as ”a horrible man”, adding that he would have taken him to had he been in his son’s shoes on the receiving end of allegations of dishonesty has made no secret of his hate for the American big puncher. He has particularly taken exception to a number of allegations made by Wilder, claiming he was the victim of foul play when he lost his last fight against the gypsy king. Amongst them were claims that his water was spiked leading to him sacking his former trainer and that his ring walk costume was too heavy, affecting his performance in the ring. Wilder also insisted that Fury’s gloves were tampered with.

Speaking to Give Me Sport, John Fury said team Fury does not consider Deontey Wilder a threat , and stated  that  he is eager to make the long awaited heavyweight fight with Anthony Joshua this December. John Fury was reacting  to Wilder’s trainer’s recent boast that the Alabama man will knock out Fury inside five rounds of their highly anticipated rematch on October

”He’s been inappropriately inactive , but so has Wilder, John said. They’ve  both done  nothing for two years . But I see Tyson with TBS mindset he’s got knocking him out inside five rounds.I mean properly Ko’ing him so there is no argument. and he is out on his back.

He’s trying to get Joshua in December,” Fury said. “We’re going for that fight this year.

“Because we see Wilder as no threat at all once he’s done the camp right.

“If he’s done everything right to the letter, Wilder ain’t a problem, he’s got his number, beat him twice, beat him like a ragdoll, beat him to a pulp last time.

“Wilder has got nothing to offer him at all, only that big punch.

“And believe me, what I’m seeing in the new trainer, we know a lot about him as well, so we’ve got no fear at all.”Arbitrator rules Tyson Fury must grant Deontay Wilder rematch by Sept. 15, Anthony Joshua fight in jeopardy - CBSSports.com

Eddie Hearn has recently stated he is hoping to make the heavyweight unification clash in February 2022, but if John Fury’s word can be trusted to be gospel,  a Christmas clash would serve boxing fans much better than waiting until 2022. That assumes both Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury come out of their respect interim fights victorious. Anthony Joshua has the task of defeating Usyk on the 25th of September, which most pundits expect him to do, but cannot be taken forgranted.

Many heavyweight boxers of today fight just once a year, which is poor for their image and ability. Fury’s chase for a December clash with Joshua deserves praise, and sets a standard for Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearns to live up to if team Fury is serious about this. With Wilder’s team as confident of victory as Fury’s team, the rematch promises to be explosive and sell well.

Fury and Wilder were scheduled to meet at the end of last month, after the American won an adjudication that forced Fury to  put on hold  his  originally scheduled fight with Anthony Joshua and honour a contractual agreement he had with the Deontey Wilder. The aborted fight led to an exchange of insults between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, putting Wilder  back in the picture with an oportunity to avenge his loss and regain his title.

With both men eager to win, John Fury wants the world to know he only sees one winner for this fight. Defeat would be a crushing blow for the loser of this rematch, as both fighters need to win this fight.- Wilder to regain his title, and Fury to successfully defend it. The build up for this fight should be full of fireworks in the weeks ahead.
