Impeachment Hearing: Trump Committed The Highest Crime Of The U.S Constitution

By Aaron Miller-

U.S president Donald Trump committed the highest crime of the constitution , congressman Eric Swalwell, Democrat of California.

The statement from the Congressman comes as Democrats accused Trump of abusing his power for his own political benefit and at the expense of U.S national security when he blackmailed Ukraine by conditioning military aid and an Oval Office meeting for Ukraine on the announcement of an investigation into the former vice-president Joe Biden. The fact Joe Biden is his political rival in the 2020 presidential election strengthens the case against the controversial U.S president according to his detractors.

Adding to the case against Donald Trump is the fact  the basis of his  push for an investigation is agreed to be flawed and a debunked conspiracy theory. His erroneous propaganda that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 election intensifies the case against the 45th president of the United States, according to his political adversaries . Republican Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin, who sat on the committee during the 1998 impeachment of Bill Clinton, said that an alleged “abuse of power” had never been central to articles of impeachment.

Reference  was  made to Bill Clinton and Stormy Daniels  when talking about the basis of impeachment  over proposed amendments to two articles of impeachment levelled against the president. Bill Clinton’s relationship with Monica Lewinsky did not include the exercise of the official powers of the presidency, but Trump is accused of using official acts for his own personal gain.

ABUSE OF POWER

Democrats accuse Trump of abusing his power for his own political benefit and at the expense of US national security, by conditioning military aid and an Oval Office meeting for Ukraine on the announcement of an investigation into the former vice-president Joe Biden, his political rival in the 2020 presidential election, and into a debunked conspiracy theory that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 election.

The committee was expected to vote on Thursday afternoon to deliver the two articles. They are to charge Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The full chamber could vote on whether to impeach Trump as early as Tuesday . Defending the amendment, the Republican Jim Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin, who sat on the committee during the 1998 impeachment of Bill Clinton, said that an alleged “abuse of power” had never been central to articles of impeachment.
