Hospitalised Husband Of Killed Bride Preparing Funeral Hours After Wedding

By  Aaron Miller-

The hospitalised husband of a newly wed killed by a drunk driver is now planning her funeral, less than 48 hours after they were rejoicingly celebrating a wedding like a family.

Aric Hutchkinsin, who suffered a disfigured face and broken back and bones after being hospitalised as a result of the crash finds himself preparing for the funeral of his beloved sister, snuffed out by an irresponsible drunk.

An update on a Go Fund Me page that has so far raised more than $700,000 (£550,000).

Annette Hutchinson called the prospect of planning the funeral “unimaginable”.

“She was everything to my son and changed him for the better… They shared many hopes and dreams for their future including children and building a house,” she wrote.

“He is physically recovering at home while trying to come to terms with the loss of his beautiful wife,” she said.

Andrew Gilreath, public safety director for the Folly Beach area where the crash took place, said data retrieved from her rental car indicated she was driving at 65mph in a 25mph zone and only briefly hit the brakes before she hit the golf cart.

She has been charged with reckless vehicular homicide and three counts of driving under the influence causing great bodily harm.

Lisa Miller — whose daughter Samantha Hutchinson, 34, was killed when Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, mowed into the golf cart she and her new husband were riding in after their Folly Beach reception — said in an interview published Thursday that the tragedy “wasn’t an accident.”

“This person chose to drink, get behind the wheel, and plow down my daughter. This is a conscious choice that a young lady made,” she told Fox News Digital.

Toxicology results released Thursday revealed that Komoroski, who has a history of traffic violations, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.261 — more than three times the legal limit — at the time of the crash on April 28.Jamie Lee Komoroski. Pic: Charleston County Sheriff's Office via AP

According to an incident report, the Coastal Carolina University graduate told officers at the scene that she “did nothing wrong,” even though she was driving 65 mph in a 25-mph zone.

She also refused a field sobriety test.

The tragedy of Samantha Miller’s death has left her family and friends devastated, forced to grapple with the unbearable pain of losing a loved one and the knowledge that her death could have been prevented. This incident has also had a profound impact on the wider community, who are reminded of the dangers of drunk driving and the importance of taking steps to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
