The Duke of Sussex said: “Yeah, yes, of course, from a family perspective, again another massively relatable issue for so many people.

“There’s sibling disagreements, there’s broken relationships between, you know, kids and their parents, kids and one parent.

“That continues to come up with me the whole time by people that I speak to, so I know how relatable it is.

“That’s partly probably why there’s so much fascination…,” he said, adding: “Then people maybe look at us and go, ‘how are you going to work it out?’.

“Then ‘maybe how I see you’re going to work it out, maybe that will help me work my stuff out’.

“Some people don’t want it to work out – I want it to work out.”

Harry added: “Of course I do.

“With everything else that’s going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile – that’s the key point.”

A Sussex spokesperson later confirmed his comments on others not wanting to work things out were “absolutely not intended as a swipe at his brother or any other member of his family.”

They added: “The comment was made in a general context and was not directed at his family in any way.”

“If there’s certain things from the past that’s still affecting your everyday, that’s harder to let go of.

“But yeah, for me, there’s enough drama in the world and enough drama in people’s lives than to continue with issues with family…”

The interviewer interjected “it’s not worth it?” and Harry said: “That’s hard to say to people when you’re in it.”

The Duke of Sussex was also quizzed on his return to the UK, telling the magazine he moved back for “opportunities, for the family, being able to put the kids in a British schools meant a lot to me”.

He added: “I didn’t know how important it was to me, I always thought it was going to be something I would try and do or that we would try and do, but now they’ve been in school for two weeks they’re loving it and it’s just giving them a whole different experience – don’t worry I’m not criticising American schools.”

The duke said it is “so important” for his children, Archie aged seven and Lilibet aged five, to have two “completely different cultural experiences”.

“It’s been nice to be close to friends, family, friends of friends and their children as well – to be able to have endless playdates to really help our kids settle in,” he added.

The Duke of Sussex later laughed when he said it is “good to be outside of the US for the next few months perhaps, and let things settle down for a bit”.
