A  criminal from Liverpool was stabbed in his neck after he was attacked at Strangeways prison in Manchester.

Richard Caswell(pictured) was treated by medical staff at HMP Manchester after he suffered a wound to his neck.

The incident which occurred in January has been referred to the police, and Caswell was treated by healthcare staff internally for a cut to the neck. He did not require hospital treatment. Strangeway bosses tried to keep the incident quite, and denied its occurrence when  The Eye of Media.Com initially caught wind of the story last month, as the prison’s officials stated they had heard nothing about it.

Caswell has been on remand at Strangeways prison since he was charged with a number of serious offences in 2020.Caswell pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine, conspiracy to possess criminal property and conspiracy to commit robbery last November, and awaits sentencing later this year.

The criminal  was jailed for 17 years in 2005 for his part in a series of car bombings across Liverpool. The ex bouncer was caught up in a dispute between drug dealing gang and the owners of city centre nightclub 051.

On May 13, 2004 Caswell set off a car bomb outside West Derby Road police station in Tuebrook, sparking great concern at the time, and leading to a police operation to target Caswell and his associates.

In 2011 Hull Crown Court heard how Caswell attacked another prisoner at HMP Full Sutton prison. Caswell punched Wayne Walters during a fracas in the prison kitchen. A jury found Caswell guilty of actual bodily harm and he was handed an extra ten months.
