Great Yarmouth’s renowned Hippodrome Circus faced an unexpected turn of events during the evening showing of its highly anticipated Christmas Spectacular show when an acrobat suffered a fall while performing a stunt, leading to the cancellation of the event.

Two brothers had been performing on the Giant Wheel of Death, in which two acrobats perform synchronized moves on a rotating piece of equipment, last night when disaster struck.

The incident occurred as one of the skilled performers, executing a daring routine on an aerial spinning wheel, lost balance and plummeted to the ground.

Compounding the situation was the fact the acrobat collided with metal scaffolding during the descent, prompting immediate concerns for their well-being.l around 33ft (ten metres) and was helped by an off duty police officer and a paramedic who had been watching in the audience.

He was subsequently taken to James Paget University Hospital with his shocked brother.

Eyewitnesses described the harrowing moment as the performer struck the ground, causing the audience to react with shock and concern.

Privacy screens were swiftly erected to shield the injured acrobat from the audience’s view as two doctors from the attendees rushed forward to provide assistance.

The Hippodrome’s staff and emergency response teams quickly intervened to address the situation. The injured performer received on-site medical attention, with the two doctors from the audience lending their expertise until professional help arrived.

The severity of the injuries sustained by the acrobat has not been disclosed at this time.

As a result of the accident and the need for comprehensive medical care, the decision was made to cancel the remainder of the Christmas Spectacular show.

The incident has left both the audience and the circus troupe deeply shaken, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of live performances, particularly those involving high-risk stunts.
