A former Olympic coach, Jose Vicente Leiva-Modahl, is facing a total of grave charges related to sexual abuse. The -year-old Norwegian, widely known as Vicente Modahl, was formally charged by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police.

This development follows allegations spanning a significant period, from through to , relating to two separate complainants, identified only as a child and an adult female. The allegations have sent shockwaves through the sporting community given Modahl’s high-profile background.

The charges specifically relating to a child include two counts of allegedly raping a child, five counts of the alleged sexual assault of a child, and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity. Additionally, the coach faces two counts of assault by penetration of a child, demonstrating the severity of the accusations.
Modahl is also charged with nine offences relating to the same adult female. These counts comprise two counts of raping an adult female, two counts of sexually assaulting an adult female, and one count of causing an adult female to engage in sexual activity.
The former coach is further accused of two counts of assault by penetration of an adult female and one count of controlling and coercive behaviour. Modahl is scheduled to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today to answer these serious accusations.
