Fall River Cops Shoot Dead 19 Year Old And Spark Family Mayhem In Hospital

By Aaron Miller-

Fall River Police have shot and killed a 1 9 year old man on Sunday, as the victim allegedly tried to escape police.

Cops had been called to investigate a smoking car and reports of gun shots. The man killed by police was identified as Larry Ruiz-Barreto by Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III’s office. The eye of media. com have heard that the officer is being investigated for the use of deadly force, but cops have still not released his name to the public. This decision seems contrary to expected police protocol who should promptly disclose the name of an officer involved in a deadly shooting of this nature.

According to a statement by Fall River police, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Airport and Riggenbach roads around 11:45 p.m on Sunday after a 911 caller reported hearing “two loud bangs” they feared were gunshots along with a “green hatchback with stickers all over it smoking.’ ” The incident occurred near Airport Road Riggenbach road

Arriving officers spotted “a number of vehicles leaving the area” and the first officer on the scene tried to stop one of the vehicles from driving away, according to Quinn’s office. “During this encounter, the police officer fired shots into the vehicle, striking the operator,’’ Quinn’s office said in the statement. The summary of the statement is that cops shot the car to prevent the car from escaping, not to kill the victim. The victim’s family will be pressed to accept that explanation, their family member is dead!

Around 2 am in the early hours of Monday morning, members of Barreto’s family had congregated at Charlton memorial hospital where between 10 and 15 members of his family were being disruptive . When they leaned that he had died, the group in the waiting room began throwing chairs and tables and kicking trash barrels and hand sanitizer stands, shattering windows and glass and damaging other property. One man spat at a police officer and threatened to shoot and kill police. Police from the local community were eventually called in and five people were arrested on disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace charges. It is natural to expect that when a man has been shot by police , members of their family will be very angry, and this anger was reflected in the mayhem that followed. This police killing in Massachusetts is one of many cases of suspected police brutality, except that this case has not immediately sparked nation wide news.

Members of the deceased man’s family must be extremely incensed with this killing; the fact the identity of the officer involved has so far been concealed must be a very frustrating and annoying plight to have to deal with
