Eddie Hearn has blasted Tyson Fury’s call for a December bout with Anthony Joshua as hot air, after he said the gypsy king knows he has mandatory defence with Kubrat Pulev in December
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has KO’ed the WBC champ’s plan their deal to defend AJ’s WBA, WBO and IBF titles against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev, exposing Fury’s call as a publicity stunt. Tyson Fury won the WBC strap from Deontey Wilder last December and is keen for an all British heavyweight unification title with Joshua.
However, he first needs to beat dangerous American former world champion, Deontey Wilder.
Hearn told talkSPORT: “Tyson saying ‘make the fight in December’, is all hot air because we have an agreement to fight Pulev on December 12.
“We know what we are doing but he doesn’t know what he’s doing, they have no plan.
“We will sign a contract now but it won’t happen behind-closed-doors because you leave hundreds of millions on the floor.
“Almost everything has been agreed for a two-fight deal for 2021. But Tyson knows we have an agreement to fight Pulev in December so he knows we cannot make that fight now.”
Fury was initially slated to meet Wilder on December 19, but that date was scrapped by Bob Arum who said football plans had aborted the plans. How that happened is a mystery, but looks bad on behalf of the U.S promoter acting for Fury.
A replacement date will need to be made sooner rather than later, since Fury who has been training five times a day since the lockdown is eager to fight and doesn’t want to be out of the ring for too long.
Only a few days ago, Tyson Fury was debating with Sky pundit, Johnny Nelson over the outcome of the highly anticipated fight between Fury and Joshua. when the eventually meet. Nelson believes Joshua will be victorious, but most British fans believe Fury has the beating of Joshua. We will never know until the day arrives.
