Deontey Wilder Promises To Knock Out Fury In Calmer And Dramatic Fashion

By Tim Parsons-

Deontey Wilder says he will knock out Tyson Fury in a calmer more dramatic fashion when the pair meet next year.

Fury and Wilder fought to a draw in December 2018, with most observers believing Fury deserved the win. However, after being dropped twice by Wilder in the fight, the British  gypsy king had to settle for a draw, and insists he was going to be robbed even if he was not dropped in the last round .

Fury is believed to have won 10 of the 12 rounds marginally, but experts from this publication who watched the fight a number of times concluded the draw to be a fair outcome for a championship fight and given the way the rounds turned out. Wilder is keen to address the controversy and deliver a conclusive outcome next time round.

Wilder told William Hill: ‘I’m going to be more calmer, take my time this time. I am going to knock him out, but just in a more calmer fashion and more dramatic fashion.’ He continued: ‘The rematch is definitely going to happen, for sure. I’m looking forward to it, I hope their team is looking forward to it. ‘Just like the first one that was full of excitement, the second will be just as full with excitement as well. So I’m looking forward to it, stay tuned to that.

ASSIGNMENT

Wilder has the assignment of first beating Louis Ortiz in a rematch, risking his title against a man who nearly stopped him in the 7th round of their first fight .  if he is to fight Fury in February  ‘I know we’ve got a lot of competition ahead before that fight.

”I’m going up against Ortiz first, that’s going to be another risk taker that I’m risking my title for. ‘But when I overcome that it’s going to make me an even better fighter and it’s going to make the Tyson Fury fight that much more interesting.

Tyson Fury is equally confident of beating Wilder in their rematch. He believes that if Wilder couldn’t beat him when he had just recently returned from a nearly 3 year break, he will have no chance of beating him with the extra experience he would have acquired by then. Fury told reporters that he will not be leaving anything to judges this time, and will go for the knockout of Wilder.
