Covid 19: Nottingham Police Spat On After Tasering Violent Suspect

By James Simons-

Nottinghamshire Police have  been spat on after tasering a man who was later arrested.Officers say they were called to reports of banging from the address and sounds of someone crying. They  quickly attended Carlton Square in Carlton at around 10.30pm last night and after entering the flat they saw a man was armed with a small axe and sat on the ledge.

Officers engaged with the man calmly after he came down from the window ledge and entered the room again. After short negotiations, the weapon was discarded. Cops say the man then became aggressive and a taser was discharged and used safely. The 19-year-old man was arrested under suspicion of affray and two assaults of an emergency worker.

He was checked over by EMAS staff at the scene and whilst being detained he spat in the face of two officers resulting him being placed in a spit hood.He was taken into custody where he remains. Officers from Nottinghamshire police told The Eye Of Media.Com that they hoped he is dealt with by the courts, but that they could not say what punishment he would be given.

A spokesman said:

‘we never can tell how a judge would punish someone who spits at an officer. There was a case in which an offender received 12 months imprisonment for spiting at an officer, but each case is dealt with on a case by case basis’.

Nottingham police declined to give any indication of whether the banging and shouting was related  to an alleged  domestic violence, citing the safety of the victim concerned.
