Chelsea Beats Palace And Heads For Premiership Title With 11th Win

By Tim Parsons-

Chelsea matched their club record in beating Crystal Palace, thereby securing their 11th successive Premier League win.  The victory moved them nine points clear at the top of the table.

Chelsea’s first attempt on goal was successful as Diego Costa put the Blues ahead with his first real ambitious touch of the game. His beautiful header from Cesar Azpilicueta’s floated cross was a world beater. Diego is the top  scorer for Chelsea, with 50 goals to his name this season. He is a strong asset for the team.

Crystal Palace tried to enage Chelsea, but were outclassed and beaten on better skills and accuracy.
The last time Chelsea enjoyed an unbeaten run of 11 games was in 2009 between April and September. This year, Chelsea are looking the business with their supporters undoubtedly very proud of their performance. Consistency and team work is everything in football. Not many team achieve records worth talking about, so every team that does deserves respect.
Chelsea were the stornger attacking side with Palace’s goal keeper, Wayne Hennessey, saving them from a wider thrashing due to his excellent goal keeping. Palace made good efforts to press the game but Chelsea were defensive masters with too much resistance for them.
Chelsea now seem headed for this year’s premiership title. In the past, Chelsea have won titles on all four occassions after topping the table at Christmas. All four of their previous titles . With the exception of the seasons between 2006-207 and 2010-1011, Chelsea have won the titles between 2004 and 2015, in impressive runs.
United, have had a dreadful year, with  only 6 wins out of 36 Premier League games in 2016. They have a long way to go.
Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew seemed to put it all down to misfortune
“It was a strong performance, but they did not give us anything and that was as good a defensive display that we have seen. Once we conceded, it was very difficult, he confessed.
“We could not get Wilfried Zaha isolated. We kept the ball and passed it well, but the final pass was very difficult. For our offensive players, it was the toughest game they have had. This team is not getting what it is deserves. That will change”.
They will need to make a lot of changes to see the change they want. What won’t change is Chelsea impressive performance this year, taking them within touching distance of the title.
