Maya added: ’I’m really excited to be hosting The BRIT Awards alongside Clara and Roman. I’ve worked alongside the incredible team at the BRITs for years now and it’s something I always watched, and wanted to be a part of, growing up – so it’s amazing to be on the stage this year hosting it!

It’s always one of the best nights of the year for me, and a real celebration of British music, culture, and talent.’

Roman also said in a statement: ‘This is a real pinch me moment! Hosting the BRIT Awards – what an honour. I remember watching the BRITs on TV when I was growing up so to be asked to host this year’s awards, is a dream come true.

It’s going to be a privilege to share the stage with so many talented artists and to celebrate the incredible achievements of all the nominees and winners this year.’

This year’s nominations, unveiled recently, reflect a notable shift towards greater inclusivity, but questions linger about the industry’s progress.

Leading the pack with an unprecedented seven nominations is RAYE, the 26-year-old British sensation whose meteoric rise has captivated audiences worldwide.

Despite facing challenges in the industry, including a split with her former label, Polydor, RAYE’s independently released debut album, “My 21st Century Blues,” soared to No. 2 on the UK albums chart and earned her critical acclaim.

Her nominations span across multiple categories, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best New Artist, underscoring her undeniable impact on the music scene.

RAYE’s domination at the Brit Awards marks a significant milestone, surpassing the previous record held by esteemed artists such as Gorillaz, Craig David, and Robbie Williams.

In a heartfelt message to her fans, RAYE acknowledged the tumultuous journey of the past year, expressing gratitude for their unwavering support amidst the industry’s challenges.

While RAYE’s success shines a spotlight on the strides made in gender representation, the nominations also highlight ongoing disparities within the industry.

The absence of female acts in categories such as Group of the Year and International Group of the Year underscores the need for continued efforts to promote diversity and inclusion. However, victories for artists like Young Fathers, who received three nominations, including Album of the Year, signal progress in recognizing diverse talent.

At a press screening to unveil the nominations, Yolanda Brown, chair of the UK Record Labels Association, commended this year’s lineup while emphasizing the importance of ongoing dialogue and evolution. Recognizing the Brits as a “work in progress,” Brown affirmed the industry’s commitment to fostering positive change and inclusivity.

RAYE’s remarkable success at this year’s Brit Awards is a testament to her indomitable spirit and undeniable talent. From Artist of the Year to Album of the Year, her nominations span across multiple categories, solidifying her status as one of the brightest stars in the music scene.
