The crackdown is set to intensify, with potential legal actions, including cease and desist letters and home visits, for those found engaging in illegal streaming practices.

The rise in popularity of devices like Amazon Fire TV Sticks, known for their affordability and adaptability, has led to an increased number of individuals resorting to cheaper alternatives for accessing premium content.
Some even purchase modified devices online, pre-loaded with free access to channels and streaming services.
The Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) has officially confirmed the initiation of a comprehensive effort to combat illegal streaming activities.

As part of this initiative, FACT is collaborating with Crimestoppers to send cease and desist letters and conduct home visits to individuals engaged in pirated content consumption.
A spokesperson from FACT stated, “We utilize a range of methods to identify individuals engaged in unauthorized businesses that offer access to illegal streams.” The spokesperson further emphasized the partnership with Crimestoppers to facilitate easy reporting of illegal streaming, leading to a significant increase in reports related to Fire Sticks and illicit streaming.
The current crackdown involves a multi-pronged approach:
Cease and Desist Letters: Individuals found streaming content illegally will receive cease and desist letters, informing them about the legal consequences of their activities.
Home Visits: Law enforcement, in collaboration with FACT, will conduct nationwide “Knock and Talks” to personally inform individuals about the need to cease and desist immediately or face further legal action or prosecution.
The spokesperson highlighted the close collaboration with law enforcement to gather evidence actively, enabling the pursuit of legal actions against entities involved in criminal streaming activities.
As the cost of living crisis continues to affect households nationwide, authorities are intensifying efforts to tackle piracy, safeguarding the interests of content creators and broadcasters.
Users of ‘dodgy boxes’ or ‘fully loaded’ sticks are urged to reconsider their choices as legal consequences loom large in the ongoing crackdown.
