The sister of Glenn Quinn, Lesley Murphy,(pictured) has issued a heartfelt appeal for witnesses to come forward and help bring the perpetrators to justice.
The 47-year-old was viciously attacked by a loyalist gang inside his Carrickfergus home, an incident that shocked the community and left a lasting scar on his grieving family.

Mr Quinn had no connections to any crime or paramilitary gang but he was threatened after he made a throwaway remark criticizing an attack by the South East Antrim UDA on a friend’s business.

Glenn Quinn’s lifeless body was discovered on January 4, 2020, in his flat on Ashleigh Park, Carrickfergus.

The circumstances of his death point to a brutal ambush as he entered his home, followed by a savage attack by men armed with iron bars and baseball bats.
The killing has been attributed to members of the South East Antrim UDA, highlighting the continued presence of paramilitary groups in the region.
Lesley Murphy’s emotional appeal urges anyone with information to “do the right thing” for her late brother Glenn. She paints a poignant picture of Glenn as a “decent, kind-hearted, big gentleman” and emphasizes that his violent death should not be allowed to happen again.
Ms. Murphy appeals directly to those who targeted a vulnerable member of their community, asserting that they must face the consequences of their actions.
Ms. Murphy reflects on the changes that have occurred over the four years since Glenn’s murder. Friendships and relationships have ended, allegiances have shifted, and those who once held positions of influence in the town no longer hold sway.
This evolving landscape, she suggests, is an opportunity for individuals to come forward, speak up, and contribute to bringing justice to her brother’s memory.
Renewed Rewards and Police Appeal
A week before the anniversary, a mystery businessman doubled his contribution to the reward pot for information leading to a conviction for Glenn Quinn’s murder. The PSNI has also renewed its appeal for information. Detective Inspector Gina Quinn describes the murder as “shocking and brutal,” emphasizing that Glenn was attacked in a place where he should have been safe.
DI Quinn provides a harrowing account of Glenn’s injuries, describing how he was left to die a slow and painful death from serious injuries, including multiple rib fractures. She stresses that Glenn’s death has left not only a bereaved family but an entire community in shock.
Call for Anonymous Information
With Glenn’s family, including his elderly mother Ellen, enduring another painful Christmas without closure, the plea for information continues. DI Quinn understands the reluctance or fear some may feel in coming forward and highlights that information can be passed anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers.
