Nottinghamshire police have released CCTV images of two individuals they wish to speak to.
The incident occurred on the 141 bus route, heading from Mansfield to Nottingham, around 3 pm on Monday, October 9, 2023, and has raised concerns about the safety of passengers on public transport.
The victim, a teenage girl, endured a traumatic experience when a group of individuals, seated behind her, subjected her to a barrage of abuse, including the throwing of objects and derogatory comments.
The situation escalated when the young girl had her hair pulled back and was punched in the face. The aftermath left her with visible injuries, including swelling and bruising around her eye, a cut to her head, and pain and bruising to her nose.
The incident sheds light on the distressing reality faced by individuals on public transportation, where confrontations and assaults are unfortunately not uncommon.
The police, in their efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice, have released CCTV footage capturing two women who may have crucial information related to the assault.
“We really want to speak to the individuals in these images as we believe they may have information that could assist us with our ongoing investigation,” stated the police spokesperson. “We are pursuing lines of inquiry to identify the offenders.
As our investigation continues, we would like to hear from any additional witnesses who saw what happened in the moments before, during, and after this incident.”
The appeal for information extends beyond the identification of the individuals in the released images; it seeks collaboration from the public to provide a comprehensive account of the events leading up to and following the assault.
Police is hoping additional witnesses will come forward to assist in the investigation, ensuring that those responsible for the attack are held accountable for their actions.
