Covid-19 cases are rising in the Uk, mainly due to scepticism about the seriousness of Covid-19, not just in the Uk, but globally. Cases rose by almost a third between 26 December and 3 January, reaching 70,000 a day according to the Office Of National Statistics (ONS)
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) survey indicated that just under half (44%) of British adults said they had formed a Christmas bubble.
The ZOE Covid Symptom Study concluded a growth in the spread of Covid-19 throughout the UK. Research conducted by The Eye Of Media.Com reveals that a worryingly high number of people in the Uk, particularly in London, are not taking the pandemic seriously enough because of doubt.
Research conducted by this publication in December revealed that a high number of people doubt the credibility of news coverage about the pandemic because of past Covid-19 exaggerations. The British government has revised its report of Covid 19 deaths, limiting recorded deaths to those that occurred 28 days after they tested positive for Covid-19.
However, many members of the British public spoken to by researchers from The Eye Of Media.Com in the week leading up to the Christmas period who expressed a lack of trust in the credibility of official numbers published by the ONS admitted mixing freely in secret because of their views that Covid-19 is deliberately being exaggerated.
Some of them highlighted experiences personal to them in which people who died of other illnesses had Covid-19 on their death certificate. Individual cases contained in those claims are to be closely examined by those determined to obtain as full information as possible the pandemic and its effect.
Researchers so far believe members of the public should be careful with their level of mixing and not take things forgranted.
Researchers for this publication includes freelancers from the National Union Of Journalists (NUJ), part time working university students, and some internal writer from this publication.
Researchers estimation of the virus’s reproduction or R number is currently 1.2, which chimes with official government estimates of 1.1-1.3.
Infections are reportedly growing fastest in Scotland and, in England, London has the most severe epidemic with the highest number of cases.
Respondents to the ONS survey, about a fifth said they had found it difficult to follow the Christmas rules.
Mixing
Rules originally set to allow everyone in the UK to mix in a five-day window, were changed at the last minute, on 19 December.
In England, people living in Tiers 1-3 were allowed to form a one-day Christmas bubble with a maximum of two other households.
Residents in Tier 4, including about 10 million people in Greater London, were not permitted to mix at all. However, many decided to mix out of frustration with the continuity of restrictions, and constant U turns.
