Firefighters battled persistently before overcoming a fire that took over the north London music venue Koko, as flames billowed out of its roof on Monday evening.
The incident shook London as Images of the blaze were shared on social media causing a manic among people. About a third of the roof of the nightclub was set alight as firefighters fought to save the rest of the venue. However, it was later brought under control. The cause of the fire has not yet been established but will be the subject of immediate inquiries.

The London Fire Brigade sent about 60 firefighters and eight fire engines to the venue on Camden High Street. They said 30% of the roof was alight and that their team were “working hard” to save the rest of the building. It also warned people to stay away from the area. Koko was previously known as the Camden Palace and Camden Hippodrome, and has been one of the most iconic live music venues in London for decades.
Meetings at the Town Hall were suspended and a large cordon is in place in Mornington Crescent. The venue was set to re-open after a “major state-of-the-art” refurbishment, after the purchase of two adjacent buildings.
